Who We Are

Our mission is to empower families living in Guatemala City and help develop the next generation of humanitarian leaders.

What We Do

“I started working with HOPE’S IN this year and I am truly glad I did. I read about HOPE’S IN and how they were empowering children in Guatemala City to live a better life. I signed up right away and was surrounded by people who truly care about this cause.”

– Saumya

“I want to be a person who brings joy into other people’s lives. I think that being part of this program will get me closer to being the person I want to become.”

– Isy

“HOPE’S IN has given me invaluable leadership and philanthropic experience while broadening my worldly perspective.”

– Laura

HOPE'S IN NFP's mission is to empower families living in Guatemala City and develop the next generation of humanitarian leaders. We empower Guatemalan families by defending their rights to shelter, education and healthcare. This is done by building homes, investing in local tutoring programs, Oso a microfinance program for women, and financially supporting and volunteering at local health clinics. More specifically we seek to empower populations within Guatemala that are most vulnerable to repeating the cycle of poverty in their family. Therefore we focus on serving marginalized communities, teen mothers, and persons with disabilities.

The development of humanitarian leaders is done through both international service trip opportunities and local volunteer programs such as our internship program and Hope’s In Academy (HIA). The HIA is a service-learning and leadership development program at Barrington High School sponsored by the Barrington Area Community Foundation. These volunteer opportunities give students and adults a unique perspective of the world that allows them to enhance their skills as a leader in a global narrative.
