Who We Are
We provide an organized and confidential process for homeowners in financial and personal need, to seek and receive essential home repair services in Northwest Cook and surrounding counties in Illinois. Individual and foundation donors provide money for tools and materials. Labor is essentially free, even the services of licensed electricians and plumbers, drywall mudders, concrete and roofing specialist, when required, are usually donated. Using this model, The Build Team is able to turn every dollar donated into four dollars in actual repairs. Every project meets local building codes and is completed to high professional standards.
What We Do
What The Build Team does is really pretty straightforward. We help homeowners who are struggling with financial, health, or disability issues, keep their homes "livable." In extreme cases, homeowners we helped faced eviction because of building code violations. Others simply couldn't afford basics—like hot water or a roof that didn't leak. Essential things most of us as homeowners take for granted.
The Build Team of volunteers wants to help homeowners whose circumstances have put their homes at risk or greatly compromised their quality of life.
