Who We Are

Barrington Area Animal Rescue & Kennels (BAARK Dog Rescue) is an all-volunteer, foster-based animal rescue serving the Chicago Area. The Organization's primary location is located in Barrington Hills, Illinois.

The Organization was established in December 2014, with the primary objective being to rescue, care for, and place into permanent, loving forever homes,  homeless, unwanted, neglected, and suffering animals, as well as to ultimately do its part to make the world a more humane and compassionate place for ALL animals,

All activities undertaken by the volunteers of BAARK Dog Rescue are in support of the Organization's mission and its vision to create a more humane and compassionate world in which all animals are treated with dignity and respect.

What We Do

BAARK rescues dogs from neglectful, abusive, and inhumane situations, provides whatever care (medical or behavioral) needed, and seeks forever homes, able to meet the specific needs of each dog.  BAARK focuses particularly on helping senior and special-needs dogs, often left behind by other such Organizations; such dogs require additional, sometimes extraordinary, medical care.

In order to meet such needs, fundraising is an essential part of the Organization's activities.

While in BAARK's care, each dog lives in a foster home. The foster family provides whatever care, attention, and socializing the foster dog needs, ensuring he / she will be made whole again, prior to moving along to his / her forever home.
