Who We Are
The Barrington Lions Club celebrates over 90 years of service in the Barrington area community. Our club was organized October 15, 1925. We are all members of the community we serve.
Since 1917, Lions clubs have offered people the opportunity to give something back to their communities. From involving members in projects as local as cleaning up an area park or as far-reaching as bringing sight to the world's blind, Lions clubs have always embraced those committed to building a brighter future for their community.
Today with more than 46,000 clubs in 193 countries and geographical areas, Lions have expanded their focus to help meet the ever-increasing needs of our global community.
Our programs are continually changing to meet new needs and greater demands, but our mission has never wavered: "We Serve."
What We Do
We support individuals and organizations in the Barrington area that need support for vision care and other services. The core of Lions International has been to help individuals with vision disabilities and blindness. We support Camp Lions for disabled children, a local high school student on a need basis, boy scout eagle candidates and district 220 families in need. We conduct an annual golf outing fundraiser and raise money through Lions Candy Day. We have operated the Barrington 4th of July celebration or Brat tent, which thru generous donors allows for a place to gather for live music in the village center and for a village fireworks display. Our members collect used eye glasses, provide roadside cleanup along route 59 in the community and donate their time to various local causes.
