Who We Are
Our volunteers are working to continue to spread the message in various ways: Tabling events, giving 20 min presentations locally, as well as trying to work with the school board, school PTO,neighborhood businesses and police departments to have a combined effort to promote safe and secure gun storage.
Many local police depts, school districts have recently adopted the BeSmart message as well as an endorsement for the American Academy of Pediatrics.
What We Do
The Be SMART campaign was launched to take action to promote responsible gun ownership and reduce child gun deaths. The campaign is a non-partisan issue focusing on education and awareness about child gun deaths and secure gun storage. Be SMART volunteers encourage parents and caretakers to “Be SMART” and take these five simple steps to help prevent shootings by children. Our goal isn't to eliminate guns but to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to help prevent tragedies from occurring.
