Prairie Restoration Workdays - Saturdays

Expired

Description

Fall

It's seed collecting season and in the middle of November the seed mixes will be created so we can then walk around the prairie spreading seeds. This way the seeds go through the cold weather spell they need to sprout next year!

Winter

Going after invasive species such as buckthorn is they main activity in the winter. Cutting, sawing, breaking down and burning buckthorn will help open up valuable prairie space for the flora and fauna.

Spring

Plants are starting to emerge and more animals are coming around to say hello! Come plant sedges and see what other activities we need help with each week as it often depends on Mother Nature.

Summer

Come out to plant, remove invasive plants, and collect seeds throughout the seasons. Watch each week and month as the prairie changes and learn about the many amazing native plants and creatures.

What do I need to do be prepared?

Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes or boots. Apply sunscreen and insect repellent if necessary. No prior experience is necessary.
